Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar has stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot be compared to India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Speaking to the media, Pawar said, 'Nehru is Nehru. There is no comparison.'
Pawar on Modi's Tenure
Referring to PM Modi becoming the longest-serving prime minister, Pawar remarked, 'It is good. In a parliamentary democracy, the prime minister is a constitutional post and we have to respect it.' He added that each leader has their own style of functioning and contributions.
Political Reactions
The statement has sparked discussions in political circles. While BJP leaders defended Modi's legacy, Congress leaders welcomed Pawar's remarks. Political analysts noted that Pawar's comments reflect the ongoing debate over comparisons between past and present leaders.
Pawar, a veteran politician, has often maintained a balanced stance on national issues. His comments come amid celebrations of Modi's milestone as the longest-serving PM, a record previously held by Nehru.
