Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a blistering attack on the Congress party, calling it a 'parasite' that has a history of betraying the people of India. Speaking at a rally in Madhya Pradesh, Modi accused the grand old party of obstructing the nation's development and working only for its own political gains.
Modi's Sharp Criticism
The Prime Minister did not mince words as he targeted the Congress, stating that the party has always prioritized its own interests over the welfare of the citizens. 'Congress is like a parasite that has been feeding on the nation's resources for decades. It has consistently betrayed the trust of the people,' Modi said.
He further alleged that the Congress party has a long history of undermining India's progress, citing examples from various fields including defense, economy, and social welfare. Modi emphasized that under the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the country has witnessed unprecedented growth and development, which the Congress tried to thwart.
Allegations of Betrayal
Modi listed several instances where he claimed the Congress betrayed the nation, such as the imposition of Emergency in 1975, which he described as a 'black spot' on India's democracy. He also accused the party of neglecting the needs of the poor and marginalized sections of society.
'The Congress party has always been anti-poor and pro-corruption. They have betrayed the farmers, the youth, and the women of this country,' Modi asserted. He called upon the people to reject the 'parasite' party in the upcoming elections and support the BJP's vision for a prosperous India.
Modi's remarks come ahead of crucial assembly elections in several states, where the BJP is seeking to retain power. The Congress, on the other hand, has been struggling to regain its foothold after a series of electoral defeats.
Congress Response
The Congress party swiftly responded to Modi's allegations, dismissing them as baseless and politically motivated. Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said, 'The Prime Minister's language reflects his frustration and desperation. The Congress party has always worked for the nation's unity and development.'
Surjewala challenged Modi to provide evidence of the alleged betrayals and accused the BJP government of failing to deliver on its promises. The political slugfest is expected to intensify as the election season approaches.
