PM Modi: Infiltration 'Life and Death' Issue for Assam, Slams Congress

PM Modi Declares Cross-Border Infiltration a 'Life and Death' Matter for Assam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday emphasized that cross-border infiltration represents a critical "matter of life and death" for Assam, urging Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers to ensure voters remain aware of how decades of illegal immigration under Congress rule continue to impact the state. Speaking via the NaMo app at the Mera Booth, Sabse Mazboot Samvaad programme, Modi called on party cadres to educate the new generation about the Congress legacy of encroachment and the resulting crises.

Modi Accuses Congress of Permitting Encroachment That Spared Nothing

Modi asserted that illegal infiltration, which he claimed was "permitted" by the Congress party, has affected every aspect of life in Assam. From places of worship and indigenous culture to community land and livelihoods, no area has been spared. He directed BJP workers to gather comprehensive information about encroachments in their respective blocks and districts, explaining the detailed impact to the public over past decades.

"People should be told. You can share videos of victims in your area. We must tell people that Congress patronised encroachment while BJP is reclaiming people’s rights," Modi stated. He expressed firm belief that the people of Assam desire freedom from such encroachment, framing the issue not merely as an electoral concern but as integral to Assam's identity and national security.

BJP Highlights Progress and Peace Agreements in Assam

The Prime Minister contrasted Assam's development under BJP governance with the situation in West Bengal, alleging that the Trinamool Congress government has obstructed central schemes for tea garden workers. Modi pointed out that Assam's tea gardens show clear progress compared to Bengal's, underscoring the necessity of a double-engine BJP government. He highlighted initiatives like providing land deeds to tea garden workers, which he described as offering families "a foundation of life, an address, and security for future generations."

Modi encouraged cadres to organize tiffin meetings within tea gardens to listen to workers' concerns and explain government schemes, noting that such interactions inspire further action. Additionally, he remarked on Assam's improved stability, citing 12 major peace agreements signed with various outfits over the last decade, ending a prolonged period of violence prior to BJP's governance.

Modi Stresses National Security and Employment Protection

Emphasizing the broader implications, Modi stated, "Our effort is to ensure that infiltrators do not snatch the employment of our youth, the land of our poor tribal brothers and sisters, or the honour of our mothers and sisters. The government is continuously working towards this objective." This statement reinforces the government's commitment to safeguarding resources and security against illegal immigration.

The event saw approximately five lakh BJP workers assembled at over 4,500 shakti kendras to hear the Prime Minister's address, demonstrating significant party engagement on these critical issues affecting Assam and the nation.
