Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday asserted that the politics of performance has taken centre stage under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Addressing a press conference in Bhopal, Pradhan highlighted that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government has consistently focused on the welfare and empowerment of four key sections of society: women, youth, farmers and the poor over the past 12 years.
Focus on welfare and empowerment
Pradhan elaborated that the government's initiatives have been designed to uplift these groups through targeted schemes and policies. He noted that the Modi government has worked tirelessly to ensure that the benefits of development reach the grassroots, thereby transforming the lives of millions. The minister emphasised that this approach has redefined governance in India, moving away from traditional vote-bank politics to a model centred on tangible outcomes and inclusive growth.
Key achievements highlighted
During his address, Pradhan listed several flagship programmes that have contributed to this paradigm shift. He mentioned the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana for financial inclusion, the Ujjwala Yojana for providing clean cooking fuel to poor households, and the Mudra Yojana for supporting small entrepreneurs. He also pointed to the success of the Swachh Bharat Mission and the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme as examples of the government's commitment to public welfare.
The minister further stated that the empowerment of women has been a cornerstone of the NDA's agenda, with initiatives like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and increased political representation through reservation in local bodies. For the youth, he cited the Skill India Mission and startup ecosystem support as drivers of employment and innovation. Farmers, he said, have benefited from direct income support under PM-KISAN and improved market access through e-NAM.
Rejection of dynastic politics
Pradhan also criticised opposition parties for their reliance on dynastic politics and corruption, asserting that the public has rejected such models in favour of performance and accountability. He expressed confidence that the NDA would continue to receive the mandate based on its track record of delivery and transparency.
The minister concluded by reiterating that the Modi government's focus on sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas (collective effort, inclusive growth, and trust) has resonated with the masses, setting a new benchmark for governance in India.
