Former Law Minister Questions Mamata's Conduct During ED Raids

Former Union law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has made strong statements regarding recent events in West Bengal. He spoke at a press conference held at the BJP office in Patna on Friday. Prasad addressed the Supreme Court's observations from Thursday about the situation created by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during Enforcement Directorate raids in Kolkata.

Supreme Court Observations Raise Serious Concerns

Prasad stated that the Supreme Court's comments raise serious questions about the state of affairs in West Bengal. The Patna Sahib MP explained that the court received information about suspicious evidence. This evidence involves Rs 20 crore linked to money laundering in the coal scam. The money was reportedly found with the I-PAC company.

"This is a coal scam of nearly Rs 3,000 crore in Bengal," Prasad alleged. "Since I myself have been the Union coal minister, I have considerable knowledge of what happens in coal mines in Bengal. But this has gone very far under the Trinamool Congress, because the administration is under their control."

Unprecedented Scene in Independent India

Prasad compared the current situation with the multi-crore fodder scam from earlier years. He noted that even during that scandal, the CBI office in Patna was never attacked. The former minister described the recent events as unprecedented.

"It was a ridiculous scene to witness for the first time in the history of independent India," Prasad said. "A CM and senior state police officers arriving at the scene during an investigation and leaving with the files. The TMC's legal cell also informed everyone to come to the high court to stop the hearing. This fact was conveyed to the Supreme Court."

Questions Opposition Leaders' Silence

Prasad directly challenged opposition leaders about their response to these events. He asked why those who frequently discuss the Constitution remain silent now.

"Why are Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav, Stalin, or the Left parties, who talk about the Constitution every day, silent when a CM snatches files during an investigation into a corruption case?" Prasad questioned. "Their double standards are now evident to everyone. They are also silent on the utterly unconstitutional conduct that has occurred."

The former law minister emphasized that these actions represent clear constitutional violations. He suggested that opposition silence reveals political hypocrisy. Prasad's statements highlight growing concerns about investigation integrity in West Bengal.
