The Cantonment police in Pune have registered a case of cheating against a car driver for defrauding a fuel station on East Street of Rs 500. The incident occurred around 1:55 am on Saturday. After reviewing CCTV footage, police discovered that the fuel attendant had already filled petrol into the car. However, the driver falsely asserted that no fuel had been dispensed and coerced the attendant into refilling petrol worth Rs 500.
Complaint and Investigation
The fuel station attendant, Raju Dikhale (53) of Hadapsar, lodged a formal complaint at the Cantonment police station on Tuesday. Senior Inspector Santosh Khetmalas of Cantonment police stated, "The car driver initially requested the attendant to fill petrol worth Rs 500, but his fuel gauge did not show a significant change. Typically, a car's fuel gauge does not move markedly when fuel worth Rs 500 is added. The driver claimed the gauge had not moved and began abusing and threatening the attendant."
Driver's Coercive Actions
Khetmalas further explained, "He got out of the car and forced the attendant to refill petrol worth Rs 500. Later, the driver recorded a video of the fuel station on his mobile phone and falsely alleged that the station was cheating motorists." The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
