Raghav Chadha, 6 AAP MPs Quit, Join BJP

In a major political development, Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha along with six other Members of Parliament from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) resigned from the party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday.

Accusations of Deviation

Announcing their decision, Chadha stated that the AAP had deviated from its original path and principles. He said, "The party we joined with hopes of bringing change has strayed from its core values. We have decided to join the BJP to serve the nation better."

List of MPs Who Quit

  • Raghav Chadha (Rajya Sabha)
  • Sanjay Singh (Rajya Sabha)
  • ND Gupta (Rajya Sabha)
  • Hari Babu (Rajya Sabha)
  • K. K. Sharma (Rajya Sabha)
  • R. K. Jain (Rajya Sabha)
  • M. P. Singh (Rajya Sabha)

The seven MPs submitted their resignations to the Rajya Sabha Chairman and later met BJP President J. P. Nadda to formally join the party.

Reactions from AAP

AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar expressed disappointment, calling the move a betrayal. "Those who leave for power cannot understand the spirit of the AAP. We will continue our fight against corruption," she said.

Impact on Rajya Sabha Numbers

The resignations reduce AAP's strength in the Rajya Sabha from 10 to 3, while the BJP gains seven new members, strengthening its majority in the upper house.

Political analysts view this as a significant setback for the AAP ahead of the upcoming state elections. The BJP, meanwhile, hailed the induction, calling it a reflection of the party's growing appeal.
