Rahul Gandhi to Lead Congress Training Session in Jharkhand
Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is scheduled to undertake a significant day-long visit to Jharkhand on March 31. His primary objective will be to address and guide newly appointed district party presidents from both Jharkhand and Odisha. The announcement was formally made by the state Congress unit in Ranchi on Saturday, highlighting a strategic move to bolster party organization at the grassroots level.
Comprehensive Training Initiative Underway
State Congress president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh detailed that the party has organized an intensive 10-day training camp, running from March 22 to 31, in Chaibasa, West Singhbhum. This camp is specifically designed for the newly inducted district presidents, with Rahul Gandhi set to participate on the concluding day to interact directly with the attendees and provide leadership insights.
Kamlesh emphasized that this initiative is a crucial component of the Congress party's 'Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan', which translates to organizational rebuilding and strengthening. This campaign was launched approximately a year ago in Jharkhand, aiming to revitalize the party's structure and effectiveness across the state.
Key Focus Areas of the Training Program
The training camp encompasses a broad curriculum aimed at equipping district presidents with essential skills and knowledge. Participants will delve into the party's rich historical legacy across various domains, receive instruction on methods to fortify the party's presence at the grassroots, and learn strategies for enhancing communication and coordination with party workers. Additionally, the program includes modules on leadership capacity building, ensuring that leaders are well-prepared to navigate political challenges.
Kamlesh noted that a significant aspect of the training involves practical field visits. For two days, district presidents will engage directly with local communities, fostering better connections and understanding public sentiments. This hands-on approach is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening the party's outreach and influence in the region.
Participation from Multiple States
The training session will see participation from a total of 60 district presidents, comprising 35 from Odisha and 25 from Jharkhand. This cross-state involvement underscores the Congress party's commitment to a unified organizational strategy, leveraging shared experiences and best practices to enhance overall party cohesion and performance.
Disciplinary Action and Party Principles
In related developments, Kamlesh addressed the recent expulsion of former minister Yogendra Saw, who was suspended for three years after making statements against Chief Minister Hemant Soren and the alliance government. This action followed the demolition of Saw's house by the Hazaribag administration to facilitate the expansion of an NTPC coal mine project. Kamlesh reiterated the party's stance, stating firmly that "no one is above the party and its established principles," highlighting the Congress's dedication to maintaining discipline and adherence to its core values.
This training camp and Rahul Gandhi's involvement are viewed as critical steps in the Congress party's ongoing efforts to rejuvenate its organizational framework, particularly in Jharkhand where it is part of the ruling alliance. By focusing on leadership development and grassroots engagement, the party aims to solidify its political standing and prepare for future electoral challenges.
