Ranchi-Purulia Road to Open Soon as Officials Fast-Track Work

Commuters traveling along the Ranchi-Purulia stretch can anticipate a smoother journey as the radial four-lane road connecting the Namkum Railway Over Bridge (ROB) and the Ring Road via Tatisilwai is set to be opened to the public shortly. Sunil Kumar, principal secretary of the road construction department, has directed officials to expedite the remaining work to ensure a timely inauguration.

Completion Timeline and Challenges

“While the majority of the construction is finished, certain bottlenecks persist near the Namkum Bazaar area. The contractors have been handed a three-month deadline to wrap up all pending tasks and make the stretch fully functional,” Kumar stated. This development is expected to significantly reduce travel time and ease congestion for daily commuters.

Naya Sarai ROB Project Nears Completion

In another major boost to city infrastructure, the long-pending Naya Sarai ROB project is slated for completion by the end of June. The project extends from the New Legislative Assembly complex over the Lohardaga railway line to Naya Sarai. It had been stalled for months due to slow progress. Kumar noted that work has finally reached its concluding stages and directives have been issued to expedite the completion process.

Other Infrastructure Priorities

During a departmental meeting, the principal secretary ordered an immediate acceleration of the tendering process for constructing the road connecting Chapu Toli to Kathal Mor in Ranchi. Additionally, he prioritized repair work on Bariatu Road and the completion of unfinished tasks at Durga Soren Chowk. Emphasizing that the state’s road network remains robust and motorable, Kumar issued a stern warning regarding damage caused by utility works.

He directed that any stretches dug up for pipeline or cable-laying must be restored before the monsoon sets in. A high-level meeting with all stakeholder agencies is planned to ensure ongoing projects maintain their momentum.

Logistical Hurdles and Solutions

The department has faced significant headwinds recently, including a scarcity of sand and soil, alongside the soaring cost of bitumen. To tackle these logistical hurdles, Kumar announced that an inter-departmental meeting will be held to streamline the supply of essential construction materials. Furthermore, he directed department officials to resolve practical challenges—ranging from land acquisition to forest clearances—promptly through close coordination with deputy commissioners and relevant authorities.
