Rewari sees 33.6% dip in crimes against women in 2026

Rewari district has witnessed a significant reduction in crimes against women and property-related offenses during the first five months of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, according to official data.

Sharp Decline in Crimes Against Women

The district recorded a 33.6% decrease in crimes against women, with molestation cases dropping by 58.3%. Superintendent of Police Hemendra Kumar Meena attributed this positive trend to constant monitoring, strategic planning, and strict enforcement of crime-control measures.

Property Crimes Also Fall

Property-related crimes saw a 43.5% reduction during January to May 2026. Motor vehicle thefts declined by 40.3%, while snatching cases fell by 50%. Theft cases dropped by 37%, extortion by 66.7%, and robbery and dacoity cases saw a 100% reduction.

Violent Crimes Down

Murder cases decreased by 62.5%, and culpable homicide not amounting to murder dropped by 100%. Serious mutual enmity and assault cases fell by 28.1%, while assault due to minor disputes declined by 68.2%. Cheating cases reduced by 41.2%, and fraud and forgery cases fell by 58.8%.

Overall Crime Reduction

The crackdown on illegal weapons and activities led to a 7.7% reduction in total crimes. Notably, cases under the Haryana Cow Protection Act dropped by 100%.

SP Meena emphasized that maintaining law and order and ensuring a safer environment for citizens is the priority of Rewari police. “Our aim is not only to bring down the crime graph but also to instill unshakeable faith in the minds of common people and fear of law among criminals. The residents should immediately inform the police about any suspicious activity or criminal elements. Their identity will be kept completely confidential,” he said.
