Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has raised serious questions over the destruction of around 4,000 EVMs allegedly used in West Bengal elections. Claiming that the machines were not accidentally burnt but deliberately set on fire, Raut accused the BJP government of involvement and called it one of the most serious issues facing the country.
Fresh Political Controversy
His remarks have triggered fresh political controversy over the handling and storage of electronic voting machines. The incident has sparked a heated debate among political parties, with opposition leaders demanding a thorough investigation.
Allegations Against BJP
Raut specifically targeted the BJP, suggesting that the destruction was a deliberate attempt to tamper with evidence. He emphasized that the safety of EVMs is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the electoral process.
This development comes amid ongoing tensions over the credibility of electronic voting systems in India. The Election Commission has yet to comment on the allegations.
