CHENNAI: Former ministers, MPs, and MLAs from AIADMK, BJP, and several other parties joined the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on Saturday, continuing the exodus toward the ruling party.
Mass Induction at TVK Headquarters
The day witnessed three-time MLA and former BJP functionary S Vijayadharani, along with her supporters, arriving at TVK’s Panaiyur headquarters. Shortly after, former AIADMK minister K T Pachaimmal, former MPs R Vanaroja, N Balaganga, and A Elarasan, former MLA Su Ravi, and former Tirunelveli mayor E Bhuvaneswari gathered in front of the TVK office to be inducted into the party. They brought their supporters to showcase their political strength.
They were among 37 functionaries from various political parties inducted into TVK in the presence of party general secretary and minister for rural development N Anand, according to TVK sources.
Address by Leaders
Addressing the new inductees, minister for PWD and sports development Aadav Arjuna said there was no horse-trading and that everyone was joining TVK with the future in mind. He stated that late AIADMK leaders M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa, along with TVK leader C Joseph Vijay, share the same objective: to end DMK and its dynastic politics.
Vijayadharani's Political Journey
A former Congress functionary, Vijayadharani represented the Vilavancode constituency for three consecutive terms in 2011, 2016, and 2021. She resigned as MLA in February 2024, citing a lack of recognition for her seniority and work in the party. She joined BJP at the party headquarters in New Delhi and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. After over two years in BJP without a major position or responsibility, Vijayadharani quit the party to join chief minister C Joseph Vijay’s TVK, opening a new chapter in her political career. On the occasion, she praised Vijay, stating he would soon emerge as a national-level leader.
