Robert Vadra Withdraws Delhi HC Plea in Land Deal Case

Robert Vadra on Monday withdrew his petition from the Delhi High Court challenging the summons issued by a trial court in connection with a Haryana land deal case. The counsel representing Vadra informed the court that he would make 'appropriate submissions' before the trial court at an 'appropriate stage'.

Case Background

The case pertains to allegations of irregularities in a land deal in Haryana. The trial court had summoned Vadra, who is the brother-in-law of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, to appear before it. Vadra had approached the High Court seeking to quash the summons.

Legal Proceedings

During the hearing, Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri noted that the matter was at an initial stage and permitted Vadra's counsel to withdraw the plea. The court clarified that the withdrawal would not affect Vadra's right to raise legal objections before the trial court.

Vadra's counsel stated that they would present their arguments before the trial court at the appropriate time. The High Court disposed of the petition as withdrawn.

Next Steps

With the withdrawal of the High Court plea, Vadra is now required to appear before the trial court as per the summons. The trial court will proceed with the case in accordance with law.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is also investigating the matter under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Vadra has denied any wrongdoing and has maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings.
