RSS Announces Major Expansion in Chhattisgarh During Centenary Review

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has reported a substantial increase in its organizational presence in Chhattisgarh, with 2,188 shakhas currently active across the state. This announcement was made during the organization's centenary year review, highlighting its growing footprint in the region.

Organizational Growth Across Districts

According to RSS leaders, these shakhas are functioning at 1,643 distinct locations spread across all 34 districts of Chhattisgarh. The detailed breakdown of these branches includes:

  • 1,246 student joint branches catering to school-going youth
  • 124 college youth branches focused on higher education institutions
  • 482 youth professional branches for working young adults
  • 192 adult professional branches serving established professionals
  • 144 children's branches for younger participants

The organization also revealed that 55 urban centers in Chhattisgarh now have shakha linkages, while 26 district centers boast at least five shakhas each, demonstrating comprehensive coverage across both urban and rural areas.

National Context and Leadership Announcement

These figures were shared at a press conference in Raipur by RSS regional chief Dr. Purnendu Saxena and state chief Toplal Verma. The announcement followed the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha, the RSS's highest decision-making body, which convened from March 13 to 15 at Samalkha near Panipat in Haryana.

Nationally, the RSS reported operating 88,949 shakhas at 55,683 locations, including various student and college branches. This represents significant organizational growth as the Sangh celebrates its 100th year of existence.

Centenary Meeting and Regional Developments

The annual representative assembly attracted 1,438 delegates from across India who reviewed the organization's work, discussed future strategies, and assessed programs implemented during the centenary year. Among the key discussions was the improving security situation in Bastar region, where leaders noted a gradual movement away from Naxal violence.

The assembly also received reports on successful organizational and social initiatives from different regions, along with updates from 38 organizations active in various spheres of public life. These discussions highlighted the RSS's broader engagement beyond its core organizational activities.

The RSS's expansion in Chhattisgarh reflects its ongoing efforts to strengthen grassroots connections and organizational infrastructure during this milestone centenary year.
