Seers at Magh Mela Raise Alarm Over Bangladesh Violence Against Hindus
Prominent seers gathered at the ongoing Magh Mela in Prayagraj voiced strong concerns on Tuesday. They expressed deep worry about alleged violence targeting Hindus in neighboring Bangladesh.
Swami Adhokshajanand Devtirth Criticizes Bangladesh Government
Swami Adhokshajanand Devtirth did not mince words when speaking to reporters. He described the Bangladesh government as ineffective in protecting its Hindu minority. The seer termed recent violent incidents there as utterly condemnable.
"The seers will have to step in directly," Swami Adhokshajanand declared. He revealed concrete plans for action once the Magh Mela concludes. All necessary paperwork for his travel to Bangladesh is already complete.
During his planned visit, the swami intends to meet his followers across the border. He will urge them to remain united during these difficult times. The spiritual leader also plans to provide moral support to families who reportedly lost loved ones in the violence.
Calls for Political Change and International Pressure
Swami Adhokshajanand acknowledged efforts by the Indian government. However, he pointed out clear limitations since Bangladesh is a sovereign nation. The seer emphasized that a change of government in Dhaka is now essential.
He called specifically for intervention by the international community. "Sustained pressure from developed nations could help stop these atrocities," the swami stated firmly. He believes global attention might protect vulnerable Hindu communities.
Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Takes Harder Stance
Another prominent voice emerged from Sector 4 on Triveni Marg within the mela grounds. Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand reached his camp on Tuesday and spoke bluntly.
He asserted that for real protection of Hindus, Sheikh Hasina must leave the country. The Shankaracharya also reacted sharply to reports from West Bengal. He referenced an announcement there about constructing a mosque in Babur's name.
"Babur was not divine," the Shankaracharya stated clearly. He explained that mosques should be dedicated in the name of God, not individuals. India has rejected Babur historically, he noted, and people will not accept anything in his name today.
Focus on Religious Practice Over Politics
The Shankaracharya plans to personally meet representatives from various institutions during the mela. He will seek support from leading saints for the protection and promotion of cows.
When asked about administrative arrangements at the mela campus, he offered a spiritual perspective. "Seers come here for penance, not to assess facilities," he remarked. Excessive comforts often make genuine penance more challenging, he added thoughtfully.
He further stated that the future of Sanatani Hindus will not be determined by politics alone. Drawing from religious history, he noted that if politics decided everything, figures like Ravana and Kans would never have been defeated.
"The welfare of Hindus lies in following Sanatan Dharma," the Shankaracharya emphasized. Understanding its true essence and walking the path shown by religious leaders matters most, he concluded.
Comment on India-US Relations
The Shankaracharya also briefly touched upon international affairs. He suggested that issues like tariffs should be resolved with the United States promptly. This remark highlighted how religious leaders today engage with broader geopolitical concerns.
The Magh Mela continues in Prayagraj with these serious discussions unfolding alongside traditional rituals. The seers' strong statements reflect growing anxiety about the safety of Hindu communities beyond India's borders.
