Shatrughan Sinha Vows Loyalty to Mamata Banerjee

Actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP from Asansol, has firmly stated that he will not abandon party supremo Mamata Banerjee during her challenging period. In an exclusive interview with PTI, Sinha expressed his gratitude for Banerjee's unwavering support when he faced a tough time after losing the election in Patna.

Sinha's Principled Stand

Sinha emphasized that while some party members have left Banerjee due to compulsions, fears, or allurements, his principled stand is to remain loyal. 'I will not leave Mamata Banerjee in her difficult time. She stood by me when I was facing a tough time after losing the election in Patna,' he said.

Mamata Banerjee's Resilience

The Lok Sabha MP highlighted Banerjee's resilience, describing her as a 'street fighter' who still commands a 41 per cent vote share in West Bengal. This reference comes after the recently held assembly election in the state, which the TMC lost.

Rebel Group Invitations

Sinha acknowledged invitations from the TMC rebel group but reiterated his principled stance. 'I am grateful to those who invited me to join the TMC rebel group, but my principled stand is I should stand by Mamata Banerjee now. As of now, I won't change my path,' he asserted.

Post-Election TMC Split

Following the assembly election debacle, a split has emerged within the TMC's legislature party and among its MPs. Sinha's declaration of loyalty comes amid this internal turmoil, reinforcing his commitment to the party and its leader.
