Shivakumar visits ailing Minister Sudhakar at KIMS Hospital

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar visited Health Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar at the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Hospital in Bengaluru on Tuesday, expressing concern over the latter's health condition. Sudhakar has been admitted to the hospital for treatment of a viral infection and is reportedly stable.

Shivakumar's gesture of goodwill

Shivakumar, who is also the state Congress president, spent time with Sudhakar's family members and inquired about the minister's health from the attending doctors. He wished him a speedy recovery and emphasized the importance of health for public servants. The visit comes amid political tensions between the ruling Congress and the opposition BJP, with Sudhakar being a senior BJP leader.

Sudhakar's health status

Dr. Sudhakar had been unwell for a few days and was admitted to KIMS Hospital on Monday night. Hospital sources confirmed that he is under observation and responding well to treatment. The minister had earlier taken to social media to inform the public about his illness and requested privacy.

The visit by Shivakumar was seen as a rare bipartisan gesture in the state's often contentious political landscape. Several other political leaders, including Congress MLAs and BJP colleagues, have also visited the hospital to check on Sudhakar's health.
