Tamil Nadu's Central Districts Commemorate 77th Republic Day with Official Ceremonies
The 77th Republic Day was observed with great fervor and patriotic spirit across the central region of Tamil Nadu on Monday. District collectors presided over official functions, leading the celebrations that included flag hoisting, guard of honor receptions, and the distribution of awards and welfare assistance.
Trichy Hosts Grand Celebration with Honors and Tributes
In Trichy, collector V Saravanan unfurled the national flag at the Armed Forces Grounds, marking the commencement of the Republic Day festivities. The event was highlighted by the release of tricolor balloons and peace doves, symbolizing unity and harmony. Following this, the collector received a guard of honor from the police parade, acknowledging the dedication of the security forces.
Collector Saravanan paid heartfelt tributes to the freedom fighters and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation's independence. In a gesture of recognition, he honored the families of these heroes, ensuring their contributions are remembered. The ceremony also saw the presentation of the chief minister's police medal to 119 personnel for their meritorious service, alongside certificates of appreciation awarded to 770 government officers and staff members from various departments.
Ariyalur, Perambalur, and Nagapattinam Join in the Celebrations
In Ariyalur, collector P Rathinasamy led the Republic Day proceedings by unfurling the national flag and releasing peace doves. He accepted the guard of honor from the police contingent, reinforcing the importance of discipline and service. During the event, the chief minister's police medal was awarded to 40 personnel, while appreciation certificates were presented to 254 officials, recognizing their exemplary work.
Perambalur witnessed a similar celebration, with collector N Mirunalini distributing welfare assistance to 113 beneficiaries, providing essential support to those in need. Additionally, certificates of appreciation were awarded to 53 police officers and 362 government officials, highlighting their commitment to public service.
In Nagapattinam, collector P Akash organized the Republic Day event at the Muthamizharignar Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi district sports stadium. Here, welfare assistance was distributed to 29 beneficiaries, and certificates of appreciation were presented to 183 officials, acknowledging their efforts in various government departments.
