The District Congress Committee (DCC) of Tarn Taran, led by president Rajbir Singh Bhullar, organised a candle march on Saturday night from Congress Bhawan to protest the Delhi Police's cane-charge on students during their sit-in at Delhi's Jantar Mantar. Party leaders, workers, and a large number of youths participated, demanding strict action against those responsible for the alleged NEET paper leak.
Resignation Hailed as Student Victory
Referring to the ongoing student agitation and the campaign led by Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, speakers at the march described the resignation of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as a major victory for students. Bhullar said the alleged NEET paper leak has raised serious questions about the future of lakhs of students and the credibility of the country's examination system.
Bhullar added, "Using force against students who were peacefully protesting for their rights and justice is against the spirit of democracy." He emphasised that the DCC stands in solidarity with the students.
Party Leaders Address Gathering
City president Lakhwinder Singh Lucky Pagal, former councillor Raja Joshi, Harpreet Singh Sandhu Patti, Yudhveer Singh Sarli, and Inderjit Singh Rataul also addressed the gathering. They condemned the police action and reiterated the party's commitment to student rights.
Demand for Accountability
The march concluded with a demand for a thorough investigation into the NEET paper leak and strict punishment for those found guilty. Congress workers vowed to continue their support for the student movement until justice is achieved.
