Mass Organizations in Tarn Taran to Mark Anti-Imperialism Day on March 23

In a significant move, mass organizations linked to the United Kisan Morcha and various trade unions have announced plans to observe Anti-Imperialism Day on March 23 in Tarn Taran district. The decision was made during a joint meeting held at Gandhi Park, chaired by Jassa Singh Kad Gill, reflecting a unified stance against global imperialist forces.

Commemorating Historical Martyrs and Modern Protests

The observance of Anti-Imperialism Day is set to commemorate the martyrdom of iconic revolutionaries Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev. Leaders highlighted that nearly a century ago, these figures championed anti-imperialist slogans such as "Down with imperialism," which remain relevant today. The event responds to a nationwide call from the joint platform of the United Kisan Morcha and trade unions, aiming to raise awareness and resistance against contemporary forms of imperialism.

During the meeting, prominent leaders including Daljit Singh Dayalpur, Sukhdev Singh Kot Dharam Chand, Nachhattar Singh Pannu, Gurpreet Singh Gandiwind, Davinder Sohal, Dilbag Singh Marri, Bhupinder Singh Pandori, Tarsem Singh Kalsi, Sukhbaz Singh, Balkar Singh Valtoha, Rashpal Singh Bath, Mehar Singh, Tajinder Singh, and Gurvinder Singh Bhikhiwind addressed the gathering. They emphasized the resurgence of imperialist tendencies under global leadership, citing the ongoing Iran war as a recent example of such aggressive policies.

Planned Activities and Protests

The organizations have outlined a series of activities for March 23. A large gathering is scheduled in front of the District Administrative Complex (DAC) in Tarn Taran to pay tribute to the martyrs and voice opposition to imperialism. Additionally, participants will march towards the Cooperative Sugar Mills at Sheron to protest against the Punjab Government's alleged move to sell the mill to private agencies. Leaders claim that this action involves taking away nearly 100 acres of land from the people, and the march aims to raise voices against this decision.

The leaders argued that corporate houses, led by figures such as US President Donald Trump, are attempting to capture global wealth through imperialist means, dominating and enslaving smaller and developing countries. This event serves as a platform to unite communities in Tarn Taran and beyond, fostering solidarity against economic and political exploitation.

With these initiatives, the mass organizations seek to honor historical legacies while addressing current challenges, ensuring that the spirit of anti-imperialism continues to inspire collective action and resistance.
