Tarun Chugh Slams Mann Over Modi Foreign Tours Criticism

BJP Leader Tarun Chugh Hits Back at Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann

Chandigarh: BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Sunday launched a sharp attack on Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann for questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi's foreign tours. Chugh accused Mann of hypocrisy, pointing out that the chief minister himself frequently travels abroad.

Calling Mann's remarks "the height of hypocrisy", Chugh said, "A chief minister who himself travels abroad with a minister currently in ED remand in a money laundering case and an OSD accused of harassing a woman MP has no moral right to question the Prime Minister."

Mann had on Saturday remarked that "the Prime Minister is roaming abroad while giving lessons on savings to people of the country."

Defending Modi's overseas visits, Chugh stated that the PM's recent visit to the Netherlands was aimed at securing India's technological and economic interests, including a semiconductor deal involving the Tata Group and ASML. "This is the same vision that brought Punjab a semiconductor plant in Mohali, opening new employment opportunities for the youth," he said.

Chugh further alleged that while Modi's foreign visits attracted investment and created jobs, Mann's trips had yielded "nothing for Punjab". He added, "Mann should tell people how much investment and how many jobs his foreign tours brought to Punjab."

The BJP leader's comments came amid a war of words between the ruling party and the opposition over the effectiveness of foreign travel by political leaders.
