TIRUPATI: Chittoor TDP MP Daggumalla Prasad Rao asserted that the delimitation and women reservation bills, which were opposed and stalled by the Indian National Congress and its allies, including the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, recently in Parliament, were historic bills meant to ensure balanced representation across the country.
Joint Press Conference
Addressing a joint press conference along with Chittoor MLA Gurajala Jaganmohan as part of a state call, Prasad Rao criticized the INC and the DMK for stalling the proposed Delimitation Bill and the Women Reservation Bill. He described their actions as a deliberate attempt to weaken the political voice of southern India and a betrayal of the women of the country.
TDP's Support for Delimitation
The Chittoor MP clarified that the TDP supports the delimitation bill based on assurances that parliamentary seats will be increased by 50% across the board on a pro-rata basis, ensuring southern states do not lose out. He dismissed fears that southern states would lose representation, calling such claims "fear mongering" and misplaced.
Commitment to Reforms
Chittoor MLA Gurajala Jaganmohan stated that the TDP-led NDA alliance will reiterate its commitment to both the Delimitation and Women Reservation bills and other reforms proposed by the BJP-led NDA alliance at the centre. He added that the alliance will stage protests against the INC and its allies across Andhra Pradesh soon to demonstrate their support for these reforms.
