MUMBAI: At least three people died, including a senior citizen, a young man, and a young woman, after a speeding motorcycle hit a pedestrian at Marine Drive in South Mumbai on Monday morning.
The accident occurred around 5.45 am at the Parsi Gymkhana junction signal on N S Road, when the pedestrian was crossing the road, an official said.
According to police, the motorcycle was being ridden recklessly by its rider, who also had a woman as a pillion passenger. The rider allegedly jumped the signal and hit the pedestrian, he said.
Some passersby immediately rushed all three injured persons — the motorcyclist, the woman pillion rider and the pedestrian — to GT Hospital, where doctors declared them dead, the official said.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. Further details are awaited.
