Three Killed, Five Injured in Rudraprayag Car Accident

Dehradun: Three persons were killed and five others sustained injuries after a car skidded off the Pali Link road in Rudraprayag district and plunged into a deep gorge on Saturday, officials said. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams conducted a rescue operation under challenging conditions, evacuating the injured before retrieving the bodies from the gorge.

Rescue Operation

Upon receiving information about the accident, an SDRF team from Agastyamuni rushed to the spot and initiated rescue work. Officials stated that the team safely brought five injured individuals out of the gorge and transported them to the district hospital for medical treatment.

Victims Identified

The deceased have been identified as Mahendra Singh (68), Anjan Singh (42), and Sangeeta Devi (32). The injured include Reshma Devi (40), Dakshit Singh (5), Saanvi (3), Vaibhav (10), and Vihan (8). All the deceased and injured were residents of Uthing village in Rudraprayag district.

Recovery and Investigation

SDRF personnel also recovered the bodies from the gorge and handed them over to the district police for further proceedings. Officials said the exact cause of the accident would be determined after investigation, though preliminary information suggests that the vehicle skidded off the road before falling into the gorge.
