Leaders of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) faction led by Mamata Banerjee on Monday visited the family of a minor girl who was raped and killed in West Bengal's Baruipur area, even as prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC remained in force in the region.

Opposition leaders criticized the TMC's visit, accusing the party of politicizing the tragedy. BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar said, "Instead of visiting the family, the government should focus on improving law and order and ensuring that such heinous crimes do not occur."
