Trichy Election Campaigns Culminate in Final Surge Amid Sultry Conditions

Candidates representing major political fronts across the central region of Trichy concluded their election campaigns on Tuesday with a vigorous last-minute push, as sultry weather set the stage for voters to ultimately evaluate their performances. The Election Commission permitted an unprecedented level of campaigning activity in the city, authorizing as many as five star campaigners, 20 door-to-door campaigns, and 46 vehicular campaigns, marking one of the highest tallies ever recorded.

Star Campaigners and Rallies Dominate Final Day

Star campaigners from various political parties held multiple rallies throughout Trichy, intensifying efforts to sway undecided voters. DMK state propaganda secretary Dindigul Leoni campaigned actively for Thiruverumbur MLA Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, while later in the day, Rajya Sabha MP Trichy Siva also canvassed support for him. On the AIADMK front, deputy secretary (propaganda) Kaliyammal campaigned for Trichy East candidate K Rajasekharan, with director Udhayakumar and actor Saravanan rallying for Srirangam candidate R Manoharan.

Ministers K N Nehru and Mahesh conducted thorough campaigns across the city, covering key areas such as Thiruverumbur, Sastri Road, and E Pudur. Meanwhile, DMK's Inigo Irudayaraj, who is contesting against TVK leader actor Vijay in Trichy East, wrapped up his campaign at the Chinthamani Anna statue. TVK joint propaganda secretary Loyola Mani campaigned for the party's Srirangam candidate S Ramesh, adding to the competitive atmosphere.

Processions and Grassroots Efforts Amplify Campaign Intensity

As many as six processions were organized by candidates, including Trichy West candidate minister Nehru and AIADMK's P Kumar in Thiruverumbur, showcasing widespread mobilization. Party cadres executed multiple door-to-door campaigns to engage voters directly, while independent candidates relied on vehicle campaigns to reach broader audiences. These efforts highlighted the diverse strategies employed to maximize voter outreach in the final hours.

Campaigns Extend to Karur and Pudukottai Regions

In Karur, candidates intensified their campaigns with notable figures such as former minister M R Vijayabhaskar, DMK candidate M Thiagarajan accompanied by Senthilbalaji's brother, and TVK's V P Mathiazhagan leading the charge. Similarly, in Pudukottai, DMK candidates including Siva V Meyyanathan in Alangudi and S Regupathy in Thirumayam, along with BJP Pudukkottai candidate N Ramachandran, carried out vigorous campaigns, ensuring comprehensive coverage across the central region.
