Truck driver dies in fire after KMP Expressway crash

A 22-year-old truck driver was burnt to death after his vehicle slammed into another truck on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway and erupted into flames, leaving him with no escape as the fire consumed the cabin. The incident occurred around 1:30 am on Saturday between the Pataudi and Farrukhnagar toll plazas in Gurgaon.

Crash Details

According to police, the container was traveling from the Bilaspur side and was heading to a Flipkart warehouse in Farrukhnagar for loading when it rammed into a truck parked on the roadside. The impact was so severe that the vehicle caught fire within moments, an officer said.

Police noted that vehicles are not permitted to park on expressways, where traffic often moves at speeds close to 100 kmph, making any stationary vehicle a deadly hazard.

The fire quickly spread across the container, trapping the driver, identified as Deepu (22), a resident of Unnao in Uttar Pradesh. He could not escape as the fire spread rapidly. By the time help arrived, he had succumbed to burn injuries, the officer added.

A fire brigade team rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze after sustained efforts. Deepu’s charred body was later recovered from the cabin and taken to a mortuary for autopsy. His family is on the way, so the autopsy will be conducted on Sunday, the officer said.
