The TVK-led alliance in Tamil Nadu has allocated a Rajya Sabha seat to its ally, the Congress party, ahead of the June 18 election. The vacancy arose after AIADMK leader C Ve Shanmugam resigned from the Upper House. Congress leader Girish Chodankar met Chief Minister Vijay and urged him to allocate the seat to the party. According to Congress sources, AICC functionary Praveen Chakravarty is likely to be the candidate for the Rajya Sabha election.
