KOLKATA: Two FIRs have been registered in South 24 Parganas against Trinamool national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, alleging corruption of Rs 550 crore. The complaints were lodged by BJP functionary Abhijit Das (Bobby).
First FIR: Illegal Soil Excavation Scam
The first FIR alleges a Rs 300 crore illegal soil excavation scam that illegally excavated 163 bighas of agricultural land since 2017 for commercial sale. This has caused significant environmental damage and loss to the state exchequer.
Second FIR: Misappropriation of Cyclone Amphan Relief
The second FIR accuses Banerjee of a Rs 250 crore scam involving misappropriation of cyclone Amphan relief materials. The relief supplies meant for affected families were allegedly diverted for personal gain.
