A tragic road accident in Uttar Pradesh's Agra district claimed the lives of two first-year DPharm students on Saturday evening. The victims were returning home after a practical examination when a speeding truck rammed into their motorcycle.
Details of the Incident
The deceased have been identified as Akshay Kumar Gautam, 20, and Raj Dushyant Gautam, 18, both residents of Deo Khera village in Firozabad district. They were students at FH Medical College in Etmadpur. The accident occurred around 4 pm near their college.
Police rushed the injured students to SN Medical College for treatment. However, Akshay succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital, while Raj Dushyant died during treatment. Etmadpur SHO Alok Singh confirmed that the bodies were handed over to their families after postmortem.
Legal Action
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Agra West) Aditya stated that an FIR has been filed at Etmadpur police station under BNS sections 106(1) (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) against the unidentified truck driver. The truck has been seized by the authorities.
Previous Similar Incident
This is not the first such tragedy in the area. In December last year, two third-year MBBS students of SN Medical College were killed in a road accident near the interstate bus terminus on NH-19 connecting Agra and Delhi. Their bike was hit by an unidentified vehicle. Although an FIR was registered, no arrest has been made so far.
The incident has once again raised concerns about road safety and the need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws in the region.
