UP CM Yogi Says 9 Lakh Jobs Given in 9 Years, Slams Past Governments
UP CM Yogi: 9 Lakh Jobs in 9 Years, Slams Past Rule

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday asserted that the BJP government has provided jobs to a record 9 lakh individuals over the past nine years through a transparent process. He attributed Uttar Pradesh's former 'BIMARU' status to the dishonesty and corruption of previous administrations.

CM Addresses Appointment Letter Distribution Event

Speaking at Lok Bhavan during an appointment letter distribution program organized by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission, the Chief Minister remarked, "A state like Uttar Pradesh did not become 'BIMARU' by chance. It was dishonesty and corruption that made it so. Previous governments turned it into an anarchic state plagued by hooliganism."

He highlighted that discrimination in selection processes compelled courts to intervene and halt them. "When I took charge as Chief Minister, every single recruitment process was stayed by the court," Yogi recalled.

Allegations Against Past Recruitment Boards

Yogi alleged, "Earlier, while the chairman of the recruitment board sat in his office, an 'uncle-nephew' duo would set out on a mission of extortion ('vasooli')." He contrasted this with the current government's record: "In the past nine years of BJP rule, over 9 lakh youths have received government jobs in the state. This is a record for the highest number of appointments carried out by any state in a smooth and transparent manner."

Distribution of Appointment Letters

The Chief Minister distributed letters to 357 newly selected junior analysts (drugs) for the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) and 252 dental hygienists for the Medical and Health Department. He announced plans to complete over 1.5 lakh government recruitments in the current financial year (2026-27).

Strict Anti-Cheating Law Enacted

Yogi stated that the government enacted a strict anti-cheating law to prevent tampering in recruitment processes. "Those who try to tamper with examination processes or cheat the government through fraudulent means will face life imprisonment, and local administration will confiscate their properties," he warned.

Importance of Fair Recruitment

Emphasizing the significance of fair recruitment, Yogi said, "When deserving youths fail to get expected results, their dreams are shattered, and their families' hopes are crushed. The collapse of a young person's aspirations is a betrayal to future generations."

He claimed that before 2017, if one person appeared for an examination, another would receive the appointment letter, calling it "the reality then." Yogi also noted that curfews remained in force for months in Uttar Pradesh under previous governments, and no individual felt safe.

Sector-Wise Appointments

Highlighting sector-wise achievements, Yogi said over 2.2 lakh recruitments were made in the police department alone under the BJP government. The commission will distribute letters and relevant documents on May 4 and May 6.

Broader Governance Reforms

The Chief Minister linked recruitment reforms with broader governance changes: "We have tripled per capita income over the past nine years without discrimination. Most districts now have a medical college, and two AIIMS are operational in the state."

Upgrades to FSDA

Yogi outlined upgrades to the Food Safety and Drug Administration: "We increased the number of laboratories from 5 to 18, and annual testing sample size rose from 12,000 to 5,50,000. With more manpower, testing capacity will increase further to 1.08 lakh annually." The commission is hiring 417 additional junior analysts (food) to strengthen laboratory capacity.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, elected representatives, and senior officials attended the event.
