VCK Leader Alleges BJP's Strategic Move with Actor Vijay in Tamil Nadu Polls
In a sharp political critique, VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan has asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has tactically fielded actor-turned-politician Vijay to fragment minority and Dalit votes away from the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance. Speaking during a campaign event in the Trichy East constituency, Thirumavalavan made these allegations, highlighting what he views as a deliberate electoral strategy.
Claims of Vote-Splitting Tactics
Thirumavalavan stated, "Vijay has been fielded to prevent Christian and Muslim votes from going to the DMK alliance. If you vote for him, it is equivalent to voting for BJP." He emphasized that this move is designed to weaken the opposition bloc by drawing support from key voter segments that traditionally align with the DMK coalition.
During his address in Nagapattinam, the VCK chief further criticized Vijay, suggesting that the actor's primary goal seems to be defeating the DMK rather than addressing Tamil Nadu's pressing issues. "Vijay hardly spoke about creating jobs for the youth, caste-based violence, or giving voice to oppressed communities," Thirumavalavan remarked, pointing out a perceived lack of substantive policy focus in Vijay's campaign.
Critique of Vijay's Political Stance
Thirumavalavan noted that since launching his political party three years ago, Vijay has predominantly targeted the DMK in his rhetoric while avoiding critical public discussions on matters like the delimitation exercise. This, according to the VCK leader, reflects a narrow political agenda rather than a comprehensive vision for the state's development.
Additionally, Thirumavalavan dismissed rumors that VCK cadres are blindly following Vijay due to cinematic influence. "I know very well that you are not swayed by cinema glamour. You are those with strong ideological conviction," he asserted, reaffirming the party's commitment to its principles and distancing it from mere celebrity appeal.
