Karnataka BJP launches SIR misuse helpline, accuses Congress

The Karnataka unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the ruling Congress government of misusing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process and launched a helpline for citizens to report any irregularities or confusion. The helpline number is 88843-95123.

Allegations of misuse

Speaking to the media, BJP leaders claimed that the Congress government was using the SIR process to target opposition workers and create administrative chaos. They urged citizens to call the helpline if they encounter any illegality or confusion related to the revision.

The SIR is a periodic revision of electoral rolls, but the BJP alleges it is being weaponized for political gain. According to party sources, multiple complaints have already been received from various districts.

The BJP has set up a dedicated team to handle calls and coordinate with local party units. The helpline aims to document instances of alleged misuse and compile evidence for legal action. “We are committed to protecting the rights of citizens and ensuring fair electoral processes,” a senior BJP leader stated.

The Congress government has not yet responded to the allegations.
