Kolkata Private Schools Embrace State Directive, Introduce Vande Mataram
Kolkata Private Schools Introduce Vande Mataram in Assemblies

Kolkata: Private schools have started aligning with the new directive from the school education department, incorporating 'Vande Mataram' into morning assemblies either daily or periodically. National High School introduced the song on Friday, with Principal Mousumi Saha stating, 'This is a good move by the state, and students need to learn about patriotism and India's rich cultural heritage. We have shared the first stanza with students so they can learn it during the vacation.'

Early Adopters and Plans

Shri Shikshayatan School and Rishi Aurobindo Memorial Academy began the practice on Thursday, while DPS Joka plans to start from Saturday. Ruby Park Public School has restructured its morning assembly to include the singing of 'Vande Mataram', as confirmed by Principal Mousumi Mohapatra. Rammohan Mission School and South City International School will introduce the song once classes resume after the summer vacation.

Schools Preparing for Implementation

Sujoy Biswas, Principal of Rammohan Mission School, mentioned that their annual day celebration on May 22 will feature a special performance of 'Vande Mataram' by junior classes, with the theme centered on patriotism. Birla High School Principal Lovleen Saigal noted that they have been following an earlier CBSE order to sing the National Anthem and 'Vande Mataram' periodically, ensuring participation and time management without disrupting academics.
