Rahul Gandhi vs Amit Malviya Over Modi's Press Conference Record
Rahul Gandhi, Amit Malviya Clash Over Modi Press Briefings

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his record of not holding a single press conference since 2014, sharing a graphic that compared his 129 press briefings with Modi's zero. In a post on X, Gandhi wrote, 'When there is nothing to hide, there is nothing to fear. What happens to India's image when the world sees a compromised PM panic and run from a few questions?'

The Indian Youth Congress also posted a similar graphic, contrasting Gandhi's 129 press conferences with Modi's none over the past 12 years. The posts come amid heightened political tensions and ahead of the 2024 general elections.

BJP leader Amit Malviya hit back, pointing out that the Norwegian Prime Minister also did not take any questions during a joint press briefing with Modi. Malviya accused the 'lunatic Congress ecosystem led by Rahul Gandhi' of crowing over a 'delinquent journalist's incoherent rant'. He questioned if Gandhi and his supporters were similarly critical of the Norwegian leader.

The exchange highlights the ongoing political battle between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress, with both sides using social media to score points. While Gandhi seeks to portray Modi as evasive, the BJP defends the prime minister's record by citing international examples.
