Ten Bikers Detained for Dangerous Stunts in Visakhapatnam Police Crackdown
10 Bikers Held for Stunts in Visakhapatnam Drive

Visakhapatnam: Ten bikers were taken into custody by traffic police for performing dangerous stunts on city roads during a special drive conducted at three locations on Sunday night. Police also seized 10 motorcycles, while several others fled, abandoning their bikes.

The youths, aged between 19 and 24, were caught at Park Hotel junction on Beach Road, RK Beach and RTC Complex areas. Police are now identifying owners of bikes left behind and have begun calling the youths and their parents for counselling.

The crackdown followed complaints from the public over reckless stunt riding late at night. In one instance, a passerby recorded bikers performing high-risk stunts on Beach Road after 11 pm and shared the footage with police commissioner Sankabrata Bagchi.

Acting on repeated complaints and video evidence, traffic police intensified weekend drives. Officials said 10 bikers had been detained earlier, and another 10 were nabbed on Sunday around 11.30 pm by teams led by a circle inspector and sub-inspectors.

Police said many of the bikes had modified silencers that produced loud, disturbing noise. Cases have been registered under relevant sections.

Police Warning and Counselling

“We are examining CCTV footage to identify those who escaped. Parents are being called for counselling, and strict action will be taken against such acts that endanger public safety,” traffic circle inspector Ammi Naidu said.

The authorities have urged citizens to report any such incidents and assured that similar drives will continue to curb reckless behaviour on roads.
