Buxar: A tragic incident occurred on Monday when a 12-year-old boy drowned while bathing in the Ganga at Ladhopur Nara village under Muffasil police station area in Buxar. The deceased was identified as Himanshu Kumar Rai (12), son of Dinesh Rai and a resident of Jokahi village in Pavni panchayat. He was the youngest of three brothers.
Incident Details
According to police, Himanshu had gone to the riverbank with friends to bathe. While playing in the water, he ventured into the deep water and began drowning. His friends immediately raised an alarm. Hearing their cries, local residents rushed to the spot and launched a rescue effort. After considerable effort, they pulled the boy out of the river and took him to Buxar sadar hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police Response
On receiving information, a team from Muffasil police station reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem, said Shambhu Bhagat, SHO of Muffasil police station.
This incident highlights the dangers of swimming in unsupervised waters. Authorities urge parents to ensure children are supervised near rivers and to educate them about water safety.
