Tension in Ahmedabad's Naroda as AMC Team Threatened During Cattle Impounding
A team from the cattle nuisance control department (CNCD) of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) faced threats and obstruction while conducting a routine operation to impound stray cattle in the Bharwadvas area of Naroda on Wednesday. The incident has sparked tension in the locality.
Details of the Incident
According to an official press release from the AMC, the incident occurred around 12:30 PM near Bharwadvas on Payalnagar Road. The team was carrying out a routine sweep to impound stray animals in compliance with the Gujarat High Court's directives and the state government's 'Zero-Tolerance Level to Cattle Nuisance' policy.
While the staff was in the process of capturing stray cows on the public road, an unidentified individual arrived on a black motorcycle. The accused reportedly blocked the team's path, hurled abusive language, and issued threats to the personnel. During the confrontation, the individual managed to drive the captured cattle away, effectively stalling the legal operation.
Legal Action Taken
Following the incident, the CNCD filed a complaint with the Naroda police. A case has been registered against the motorcyclist for obstructing public servants and criminal intimidation. An investigation is currently underway to apprehend the suspect.
This incident highlights the challenges faced by civic authorities in enforcing cattle nuisance control measures in the city. The AMC has reiterated its commitment to following the high court's orders and the government's policy to curb cattle nuisance.
