Bengaluru is set to host the 5th BRICS Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) Leaders Summit on May 7-8, 2025. The summit will bring together top audit officials from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa to discuss collaborative auditing practices, knowledge sharing, and enhancing transparency in public financial management.
Key Objectives of the Summit
The summit aims to strengthen cooperation among BRICS nations in the field of public auditing. Discussions will focus on leveraging technology for audit efficiency, addressing emerging challenges in auditing, and promoting mutual capacity building. The event will also feature workshops and bilateral meetings to foster deeper ties among the member countries' audit institutions.
India's Role in BRICS Auditing
India, through its Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), has been an active participant in BRICS audit collaborations. Hosting the summit underscores India's commitment to promoting transparency and accountability in governance. The CAG will present India's experiences in using data analytics and AI in audits.
The summit is expected to adopt a joint declaration outlining future cooperation areas, including environmental auditing, digital audits, and anti-corruption measures. Delegates will also visit key government institutions in Bengaluru to observe best practices.
