Commuters traveling through the busy Shivajinagar area in Bengaluru will face major traffic diversions for the next two months. Authorities have imposed traffic restrictions on Kamaraj Road for the reconstruction of an old stone culvert near Nala Cross.
Duration and Scope of Restrictions
Traffic police have announced that all types of vehicular movement will be prohibited for 60 days, starting from May 24. This measure is necessary to facilitate the demolition of the old culvert and the construction of a new RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete) culvert by the Greater Bengaluru Authority.
The traffic movement will be temporarily restricted from Vithoba Temple up to Nala Road. Vehicles traveling from KR Road and Cubbon Road junction towards Dickenson junction via Kamaraj Road will also not be allowed during this period.
Alternative Routes for Motorists
Authorities have provided specific alternative routes for affected motorists:
For those heading towards Pulakeshinagar and Banaswadi from Commercial Street side:
- Take a right turn near Vithoba temple
- Proceed via Veerapillai Street
- Turn left near Nagamma temple
- Continue through St John's Road
For motorists from Cubbon Road side:
- Proceed via Cubbon Road
- Take Dickenson Road
- Continue to St John's Road
For vehicles from Dispensary Road (Alice Junction) side:
- Continue through Dickenson Road
