Bengaluru: The South Western Railway (SWR) is set to replace the concrete slab at the Lowry Road underbridge (RUB) near KR Pura railway station, leading to the closure of several major roads in and around the area next week.
Road Closure Details
The stretch leading towards Ramamurthy Nagar and ITI Colony through the RUB will be closed from June 4 (Thursday) until June 9 (Tuesday). Commuters have been advised to use the KR Pura cable-stayed bridge to reach ITI Colony, Ramamurthy Nagar, and KR Pura during this period.
Parts of the KR Pura-Whitefield stretch will also remain closed. While commuters have been directed to use the cable-stayed bridge to reach ITPL and Whitefield, SWR officials clarified that only one kilometre of the stretch from KR Pura will be closed.
Additional Closure on ITPL Main Road
Additionally, a 500-metre section of ITPL Main Road will remain closed for 12 hours from 6pm on June 7 (Sunday) until 6am on June 8 (Monday). SWR officials said the timing has been chosen to minimise the impact on commuters travelling to work on Monday, as the corridor houses major tech parks.
During this period, traffic will be diverted through a temporary road that will be provided near the RUB.
Alternative Routes and Advice
Commuters are strongly advised to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes, such as the KR Pura cable-stayed bridge, to avoid delays. The closures are necessary for the safe replacement of the concrete slab, which is expected to improve the infrastructure in the area.
