Biharsharif Stampede: Devotees Blame Temple Committee

Biharsharif Stampede Sparks Outrage Over Crowd Management Failures

In Biharsharif, a tragic stampede occurred at a local temple early in the morning, as thousands of devotees gathered for "darshan" on the last Tuesday of the Chaitra month. According to eyewitness accounts, the crowd swelled rapidly, but the situation allegedly spiraled out of control due to inadequate crowd management arrangements by the temple authorities.

Victims and Witnesses Voice Their Anguish

Mamta Kumari from Patna, who had accompanied a friend for the religious visit, broke down while speaking to reporters. She squarely blamed the temple committee for the chaos, stating, "There was no proper arrangement to manage devotees." She was waiting outside a hospital where her friend was undergoing treatment for injuries sustained in the incident.

Pankaj Kumar of Deepnagar, who also sustained injuries, alleged a severe lack of security measures. He claimed that no police personnel had been deployed despite the temple witnessing heavy footfall on this significant day. Furthermore, he accused the temple management and priests of prioritizing the collection of "Dakshina" over ensuring proper safety protocols for the devotees.

Administrative Lapses Under Scrutiny

Rahul Kumar, a resident of Bishunpur village, termed the tragedy an administrative lapse. He emphasized, "Security for the President is important, but managing public safety is equally crucial," highlighting broader concerns about governance and public welfare in such crowded events.

Adding to the allegations, a local resident who assisted in rescuing several devotees revealed that priests had allowed people to enter through a back gate. This action reportedly caused confusion and directly triggered the stampede, exacerbating the already chaotic situation.

The incident has raised serious questions about crowd control and safety measures at religious gatherings, with many calling for immediate reforms to prevent such tragedies in the future.
