Biryani vendor dies in hit-and-run in Gurgaon's Farukhnagar

A 28-year-old biryani vendor lost his life in a hit-and-run accident near Bittu Dhaba in Farukhnagar, Gurgaon, late Saturday night. The police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against an unidentified driver under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The deceased, identified as Govind, was a resident of Dhar Nihawa village in Uttar Pradesh's Siddharth Nagar district. He had been living in Sultanpur village in Gurgaon, where he operated a biryani cart to earn his livelihood.

Details of the Incident

According to the complaint filed by his elder brother, Deepak Chauhan, the accident occurred around 11 pm on May 17. Deepak, who runs a food cart in Palwal, alleged that an unidentified vehicle struck Govind while being driven rashly and at high speed near Bittu Dhaba.

Govind was immediately rushed to the Government Hospital in Sector 10, Gurgaon, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. After receiving information about the incident, Deepak reached the hospital and identified the body.

Legal Action and Investigation

Based on the complaint, the Farukhnagar police registered a case under Sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of the BNS. Police officials stated that they received information about the death from the hospital on Sunday, following which Investigating Officer SI Hawa Singh and his team visited the hospital and collected medico-legal documents.

Investigators later inspected the accident site and gathered evidence to aid the probe. Police said efforts are underway to identify the offending vehicle and trace the driver. Further investigation is in progress.

This tragic incident highlights the dangers of reckless driving on roads. The family of the deceased has appealed for strict action against the culprit. The police have assured that all necessary steps will be taken to bring the perpetrator to justice.
