A burglary was reported at a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) residential complex in Delhi, where thieves made off with jewellery and cash from the home of a scientist. The incident took place in the early hours of the morning, according to police officials.
Details of the Incident
The burglary occurred at the DRDO colony in the Timarpur area of north Delhi. The scientist, who works at a DRDO laboratory, had left for work when the incident happened. Upon returning home in the evening, he found the locks of his house broken and valuables missing. The stolen items include gold jewellery worth several lakhs and a significant amount of cash.
Police were immediately informed, and a team from the local police station arrived at the scene. Forensic experts were called in to collect evidence, including fingerprints and other clues. The area has been cordoned off, and a thorough investigation is underway.
Police Investigation
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Delhi) stated that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The police are examining CCTV footage from the complex and nearby areas to identify the suspects. They are also questioning residents and security personnel to gather more information.
This is not the first such incident in the area; there have been previous reports of thefts in residential colonies. The police have assured that all possible measures are being taken to enhance security and prevent such occurrences in the future.
The scientist has expressed concern over the security lapses in the DRDO colony, which is supposed to be a high-security zone. He urged the authorities to strengthen security protocols and install more surveillance cameras.
As the investigation continues, the police have appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the culprits. They have also advised residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
