After a long wait of nearly two decades since its formation, the Chandauli district in Uttar Pradesh will finally have its own police lines. The Yogi Adityanath government is constructing the facility on approximately 32.50 acres of land in the Bhojpur area along the Chandauli-Sakaldiha route, about 5 kilometers from the district headquarters. The project, costing around Rs 281.10 crore, is targeted for completion by September.
Background and Need
Chandauli was carved out of Varanasi as a new district to strengthen law and order and accelerate development, given its geographically vast area and administrative needs. However, the once Naxal-affected district lacked its own police lines, causing numerous difficulties for the police department. The absence of dedicated infrastructure hampered efficient policing and response times.
Modern Facilities Planned
Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, this ambitious government project will further strengthen law and order in the district while providing a modern working environment for police personnel. The police lines are considered a major step towards strengthening the police force in the Purvanchal region. Once completed, police personnel will benefit from better housing, training, and administrative facilities, which will also improve police services for the general public.
Police personnel will be provided with 4 BHK, 2 BHK, and 1 BHK residential flats in multistorey buildings. The tallest building in the complex will be ground plus 14 floors, with the second being ground plus 9 floors. The new police lines will become a major center of modern police infrastructure. Facilities including housing for police personnel and officers, an administrative building, a Reserve Training Centre (RTC), a hospital, a gym, and a transit hostel are also being developed within the multistorey complex.
Official Statement
Chandauli Superintendent of Police Aakash Patel said, "This police lines, equipped with modern facilities, will provide Chandauli with a strong and well-organised police administrative centre. The general public will benefit from better security and prompt police services. Police officers and personnel will get well-organised housing, which will enhance their work efficiency."
Broader Impact
The project is expected to significantly boost police morale and operational capability in the region. By providing modern amenities and a centralized administrative hub, the police lines will enable faster response times and more effective crime prevention. The development also aligns with the state government's focus on improving infrastructure in Purvanchal, a region that has historically faced developmental challenges.
Construction Details
The construction is underway on the 32.50-acre plot, with the project cost of Rs 281.10 crore covering all aspects of the development. The multistorey buildings will house residential quarters, offices, and support facilities. The inclusion of a hospital and gym underscores the emphasis on the well-being of police personnel. The transit hostel will accommodate officers on temporary duty, ensuring they have comfortable lodging.
The completion timeline of September is ambitious, but the government has prioritized the project to address the long-standing demand. Local residents and officials have welcomed the move, expressing hope that it will lead to improved law and order and a stronger police presence in the district.
