Chandigarh Committee Inspects Vending Zones in Multiple Sectors

A committee headed by Municipal Corporation Joint Commissioner Himanshu Gupta carried out a field inspection of various vending zones in Chandigarh on Wednesday. The inspection was in response to concerns and issues raised by members of the Town Vending Committee (TVC). The Gupta-led committee was formed specifically to examine the representation of TVC members.

During the day-long exercise, the committee members visited several vending zones located in Sectors 18, 22, 34, 35, 37, 45, 47, 48, and 49. They undertook a comprehensive review of various aspects related to vending operations, infrastructure availability, traffic movement, public convenience, accessibility, safety concerns, and the overall functioning of the designated vending zones.

The inspection aimed to assess the current state of these zones and identify areas requiring improvement. Committee members interacted with vendors and local residents to gather feedback on the effectiveness of the vending zones. Issues such as encroachments, waste management, and pedestrian safety were discussed during the visit.
