Chennai: Residents of Avvai Shanmugam Salai in the Thousand Lights constituency can expect relief from sewage issues within a month, as assured by local MLA and Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker J C D Prabhakar on Saturday. Following visits to several areas in his constituency, he addressed reporters and outlined a series of welfare initiatives under the '1,000 works for Thousand Lights Constituency' proposal.

Sports Infrastructure Development

Prabhakar stated, 'Tomorrow, we will visit sports grounds to understand the needs of sportspersons and undertake the necessary work. Arrangements will be made to establish sports arenas.' He also emphasized the importance of involving welfare associations at the ward level and directed officials to ensure proper road facilities without disrupting traffic flow.

Housing for Residents

The MLA noted that buildings at MK Radha Nagar and Sivasanmugapuram are old and recalled residents' demands for new housing. 'Efforts will be taken to demolish the old buildings and allot new houses to the existing residents. Work will commence shortly,' he added.
