A tragic accident occurred near Ghurka village in Fazilka district, where a man, his wife, and their two children sustained burn injuries after their motorcycle crashed into a roadside field that had been set on fire. The incident took place on a road engulfed in thick smoke from stubble burning, which blinded the rider and led to loss of control.
Details of the Incident
Veer Singh, a resident of Hazara Ram Singh Wala village, was traveling with his wife and children to his sister-in-law's house in Hasta village. As they rode through the area, thick smoke from a nearby stubble fire obscured his vision. Unable to see the road clearly, Veer lost control of the motorcycle, and the family crashed into the burning wheat stubble.
Injuries Sustained
Apart from burn injuries, Veer suffered a fractured hip, while his wife broke her leg. Both children also sustained burns. Passers-by rushed to help and transported the injured family to the Civil Hospital in Fazilka, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Victim's Statement
Speaking from his hospital bed, Veer Singh expressed anger at the administration, stating that setting fields on fire poses a deadly hazard to the public. He questioned, "If someone among us had been killed in the accident, who would have been held responsible? Strict action should be taken against the guilty farmer."
