Gurgaon Man Dies by Suicide at Mall; Marital Discord Suspected

A 45-year-old man died allegedly by suicide at the M3M Avenue 65 mall in Sector 65 on Saturday evening, with police suspecting that a marital discord may have driven him to take the extreme step.

The deceased, identified as Nishant, was a resident of Emaar Emerald Hills in Sector 65. According to police, he had recently returned to India from the United States, where he was employed. At the time of the incident, he was staying with his parents and sister.

The incident occurred around 7:30 PM on May 2, when Sector 65 police received information about the incident. A police team arrived at the scene and found the man with critical injuries. He was immediately taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead, an officer said.

The body was sent for an autopsy at a government hospital and later handed over to the family. Police have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and are recording statements of family members to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.

During the preliminary inquiry, investigators found that Nishant had been married for about 12 years and both he and his wife were working abroad. “He was under mental stress due to the marital dispute,” an officer said, adding that further investigation is underway.
