Fire at Noida Restaurant, 20 Trapped in PG Rescued

A major fire broke out at a restaurant in Sharma Complex, Sector 52, Noida, on Friday morning, triggering panic and trapping nearly 20 individuals in a paying guest (PG) accommodation on the fourth floor. The incident occurred around 7:15 am when flames and thick smoke were first noticed emerging from the ground-floor eatery.

Incident Details

The four-storey commercial building houses a bank and a medical clinic on the second floor, offices on the third floor, and the PG facility on the top floor. The fire, which started in the restaurant, quickly generated dense smoke that spread through stairways and common areas, making evacuation difficult for residents above.

Rescue Operation

Upon receiving alerts from local residents, Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Pradeep Kumar Chaubey dispatched four fire tenders to the scene. Firefighters faced challenges due to combustible materials and furniture inside the restaurant. However, they managed to contain the blaze within approximately 30 minutes, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building.

To rescue those trapped, firefighters donned protective suits and oxygen cylinders before entering the smoke-filled building. They launched a coordinated rescue operation, and as a precaution, a hydraulic platform was deployed to assist in potential rescues. After extinguishing the fire, teams used exhaust systems and other equipment to clear the smoke and conducted a thorough search to ensure no one remained trapped.

Ambulances from nearby hospitals were also called in to address any medical emergencies. Three separate teams were formed for firefighting, rescue, and search operations. All individuals were safely evacuated without any reported injuries.

This incident highlights the importance of fire safety measures in commercial complexes, especially those housing residential facilities. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
